Food Galore- Mauritian Secret Suppers

Happy Friday! Anyone doing anything exciting today or for the weekend? I’m just catching up on writing some blog posts and recipe writing before I head off to meetings and possibly snapping up some street food along the way.. I thought I would get this out to you all, for those who couldn’t make it to our Brixton secret supper club, here’s a taster of what was missed…

So we had our Brixton Secret Supper two weeks ago, with 30 diners all snuggly fit into a Brixton cafe space, we served up home cooked, authentic Mauritian treats. On top of that a little extra entertainment for the guests with a sega musician and dancer doing a performance to give guests a feel for Mauritian music and get everyone in the mood for some food! These photos were taken my lovely Twitter friend Guilia Mule, her food photography is amazing you can check her out at www.mondomulia.com

The menu for the night and giving a little welcome speech to everyone..

Cooking up Breadfruit Fritters in the kitchen..

Guests arriving at our cute Brixton cafe location for our secret supper…

Cheeky smile.. I’m crap at speeches!

Breadfruit  & Gateaux Piment Starters

Shredded green papaya, carrot salad with fresh coriander

Fresh coconut chutney

Tomato satini, with red onion, coriander, spring onions, chilli

Shrimp & Potato seasoned croquettes

Alphonso mango & lime sorbet

The First of the main courses, my goat curry, pumpkin fricasse, coriander satini and fragrant rice

Achar, shredded pickled vegetables

Chicken Kalia (steeped in yoghurt and spices), Fish Vindaye (pickled mustard fish), Achar and rice

Dessert was…Pudine Mais (Mauritian polenta cake, with coconut & sultanas, popular street sweets)

Rum Banane- Brioche, caramelised bananas in rum, topped with a coconut & vanilla creme.. one of the favourites I hear!

So I’m hoping a taster of what me and Mama Choo cook up for guests is tempting for all you out there who would like to try out some of my recipes or come to one of our supperclubs or pop up dining events in London.
