Custard Doughnuts, French Toast, Buttermilk Pancakes…
So this post is long overdue but I could not possibly forget to write about it! I still think about that early Saturday morning, heading over to the arches parallel to Maltby Street to find St John’s Bakery and their famous custard doughnuts.
I got there early to see these babies lined up and did not hesitate to buy 4 in a go…I didnt know who was going to eat them all but it had to be done.
Once biting into these soft, pillowy doughnuts a burst of custard (similar to creme patisserie, or with same taste) burst into your mouth.
I met up with the lovely food bloggers and fanatics Mondomulia, Charlotte Hu, Feast to the World and Dolce Dini ! On occasions a few of us had to deal with splatter’s on the floor, from the surprise overload of filling in these doughnuts.

After scoffing down a doughnut or two we went next door to Beas of Bloomsbury, set in a grand arch, with the kitchen at the back and benches at the forefront for customers. Thier American style breakfast and brunches are delicious.
Everyone was digging in to their morning pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon and the smell was comforting and heightened the anticipation. We decided to get one of each and share as a group! Great idea between foodies, everyone gets to try everything.
The buttermilk pancakes, cooked thoroughly, were accompanied with soft roasted sweet strawberries and cream.
The amazing french toast drizzled with a generous helping of caramelised walnuts and banana with cream was so naughty BUT delicious. The thick bread was a joy to eat, with the cooling cream to add extra indulgence.

By this time we all needed a walk to work off our overload of breakfast, but am looking forward to coming back to Beas for more!
Heading over to Maltby Street we checked out the fantastic traders there (although we couldn’t physically fit anything else in )

Great morning, get there early in the morning for those doughnuts! www.maltbystreet.com

These doughnuts are really great! Well, the brownies are not bad either! Dangerous!!!
