Its been almost a week since my return from the USA, having visited LA, Maui and San Francisco, it is what you would call a trip of a lifetime. One I’m sure will take me a very long time to save up for again… But a great gastronomy adventure to say the least, with so many varieties of food to enjoy under the California sunshine!
Maui Waffles
Breakfast in the US was an experience, considering I normally delve into my trusted whole grain porridge, fruit and occasionally granola on yogurt on a daily basis. I was eating all sorts from stacks of american waffles doused in whipped cream, tropical fruit and occasionally some maple syrup…. if I was feeling adventurous! To pancakes that filled the whole plate, baked and filled with bananas, pineapples and cinnamon (again served with cream & maple syrup!)
In Maui, their traditional cooked breakfast’s seemed to always served with fried potatoes or steamed rice. The maple bacon added a sweet/salty crunchy texture. And the portuguese sausage tasted like spicy chorizo which was a delicious accompaniment to the usual of egg and toast.

The Fried toast (or eggy bread i would call it) is served with a dusting of icing sugar, which is interesting, Im not sure its a favourite of mine as I used to eating it as savoury but it was a new taste experience!
Keep updated on my blog for recipes inspired from my US trip and maybe something new for you to try at home!
